For those who don’t know, the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) is an extensive network of college campus activity boards, musicians, lecturers, comedians and so much more. Several weekends each year they meet up for regional conferences (and one national) to book shows at college campuses all over the country. Sonicbids has been hard at work building features into our artist and promoter accounts to take the “block booking” process that NACA pioneered onto the web. It was great to experience the method first-hand at the NACA West conference in Ontario, California this past weekend. (more…)

Hey All,
Just wanted to chime in to share a bit of pure awesome. We hear about people getting gigs all the time at Sonicbids but it’s great that we get to “see” it. And in this case we get to see it happen. Here is a great accomplishment from Firedog Studios and artist Lindsay Katt. Lindsay was selected for a free recording time package that was a Sonicbids event from Firedog Studios in New Jersey.
Here is what came out of it.
Congrats to the both of you for crafting a great song. If anyone else has a video of something they got from Sonicbids feel free to contact us at www.sonicbids.com/support and let us know.

We can’t help it – we just love giving stuff away. In the past few weeks, we’ve flown to festivals and conferences around the world, raffling off great prizes at every stop. Many thanks to our friends at South By Southwest, Tanager Audioworks, Yamaha and North by Northeast for making this possible.
Back at Sonicbids HQ in Boston, Tess and Tony drew from hundreds of raffle tickets to see what lucky conference attendees would receive our awesome prizes. There were separate raffles for Popkomm, CMJ and WOMEX, and several winners from each one. Prizes included recording gear from Yamaha and Tanager Audioworks, as well as free registration to SXSW and NXNE. We felt that the selection of winners was too important to be hampered by “traditional” drawing processes, so Tony and Tess sprawled out on the kitchen floor and devised the most progressive and accurate methods of raffle drawing imaginable. Check out the pics below to see how it went down:

The best thing about working in the music industry is that, as hectic as things might get, it hardly ever feels like work. This is never more true than at conferences like CMJ. Since 1981, The CMJ Music Marathon has brought thousands of artists, fans and music professionals to the big apple for a week of concerts, networking, and straight up partying. Once again, Benjy and I were lucky enough to attend on behalf of Sonicbids. In addition having a lot of fun, we got tons of great feedback from artists and promoters, made some promising connections, and hobnobbed with a lot of very cool and talented people.
