We can’t help it – we just love giving stuff away. In the past few weeks, we’ve flown to festivals and conferences around the world, raffling off great prizes at every stop. Many thanks to our friends at South By Southwest, Tanager Audioworks, Yamaha and North by Northeast for making this possible.

Back at Sonicbids HQ in Boston, Tess and Tony drew from hundreds of raffle tickets to see what lucky conference attendees would receive our awesome prizes. There were separate raffles for Popkomm, CMJ and WOMEX, and several winners from each one. Prizes included recording gear from Yamaha and Tanager Audioworks, as well as free registration to SXSW and NXNE. We felt that the selection of winners was too important to be hampered by “traditional” drawing processes, so Tony and Tess sprawled out on the kitchen floor and devised the most progressive and accurate methods of raffle drawing imaginable. Check out the pics below to see how it went down:

For our CMJ winners, Tess dumped the raffle tickets onto Tonys face so he could clamp his teeth down on the winning ticket.

For our CMJ winners, Tess dumped the contents of the raffle jar onto Tony’s face so he could clamp his teeth down on the winning ticket.

Tony is, at times, disturbingly canine. This can make working with him a little weird, but it worked out great for the raffle selection!

For the WOMEX raffle selection, we redefined the term “double-blind method,” and sought guidance from whatever deities happened to be drifting through the office at the time.

Within moments, Tess’s “Divining Can” confidently made its selection. By now the Ch’i level in the room was getting a little too hot to handle, so Tony curbed it with a firm motion of the hands and grunted the word “HALT!”

For our Popkomm winners, Tess lulled Tony to sleep by reading aloud from a book. As always, It only took a few sentences to make Tony pass out, plopping right into the pile of raffle tickets. Whoever was lucky enough to be plastered to the side of his face would be chosen as a winner.

Four hours later, we have our winners.

Hey,
If this is correct, it’s looks like I’m a winner. This is GREAT, if so.
Will, or could, the details and confirmation be sent later?
Regards,
Tom
