Tony & Tess at the Rock’n'Roll Social

Hullo Friends,

Tony & Tess here again. We wanted to tell you about our night at the Rock’n’Roll Social. We traveled far and wide to make it to the Model Café in Allston, MA. It took a whole 25 minutes, which was a tough trek for us ‘cause we’re not good with the whole moving around …thing.

The Rock’n’Roll Social is a monthly event where local musicians and industry folk mingle, chat, network and just have a good time. We came in equipped with a bunch of promotional stuff providing some free membership time to Sonicbids (and an entire keg of Harpoon). We also raffled off two free years of Supersonic Membership loaded with $25 of site credit—conveniently, the perfect amount to submit an EPK to SXSW.

We made a lot of new friends, including Chris and Lisa from a band called Muy Cansado. They are just on the verge of releasing their new CD, “Stars & Garters,” due out this Friday, Aug. 14^th. You can check out some of their songs off of that CD on their EPK. They were kind enough to give us a copy of “Stars & Garters” before the official release. (Tess is a big fan of “Erased” – she loves Lisa’s vocals, the fun tempo, and the subtle harmonies at the end.) Here’s a photo of Chris and Lisa, showing off their brand new CD:

Lou (our unfaltering Product Manager and fellow blogger) and Benjy (formerly part of the Member Relations Team, now rocking in Business Development) came with us to hang out that night. We ran into Jim Collins, member of a cool rock band that goes by The Buckners. If you want to hear some catchy melodies and great pop-rock, check them out. Jim is on the left here—Benjy in the middle and Lou on the right:

We also met with some writers at local papers and magazines, radio DJs, venue holders and a bunch of other bands. In short, we rocked out the Model Café with all the rock’n’rollers looking to meet some other rock’n’rollers. It was a rocking good time… and that’s a lot of rock.

The Rock’n’Roll Social is held at the Model Café every second Tuesday of the month, so you’ll probably hear more from us about it in the near future. Hope to see you there next time!
